    I used 4500 on some and a gasket on others. As thick as your plate is, I'd say that sealant would work.

    in the first post, the third picture, what is the thing that looks like a rubber hose? i know it seals the water out, but is there a specific hose or something that is used?

    stock hose or a high quality hose from Napa. I use one from Napa.

    Currently running no bracket. No long term data.

    i dont have a rubber hose on my bearing carrier, and i notice at high rpm water shoots out of that little nipple is that right?

    That little nipple should have a hose attached to it. It is the grease hose for keeping the bearing and seals packed with grease. See illustration below:

    There should be a hose attached to it. It also has a grease fitting on top of the hose. You need that in place.
