Found out recently that a 1" PVC coupler works out perfect to push the seals in.

    3 questions...

First, how deep do the seals go into the pump? my seals are even with the top of teh pump (not recessed) does this matter?

Second, does the spacer go into the pump? How come the '07 spacer doesn't have a rubber gasket like my '01 did?

Third, how much space should their ideally be between the prop and stator housing? I am at about half an inch.

I push the seals in till they bottom out.

The spacer is the same thickness etc. and goes between prop and pump. Flat side goes torwards prop.

1/2" sounds kinda large. Can you take a pic??

I would be willing to try this method if I could get the shaft out of my old pump...any ideas?

Heat the pump hub woth a torch. the aluminum will expand and you should be able to tap or just slide the shaft and bearings out. Wear heavy leather gloves and do it outside because the grease will smoke.
