Removing an XL760 engine, any shortcuts? And a couple of ?'s

The manual states that I have to take the steering controls off, remove the front cowl, gas tank, etc....

But from what I have findout searching greenhulk, it looks like I can get it out of the engine opening. Right?

What about removing exhaust, carbs. Do I have to?

    Anything else I should know.

Yes. You will have to remove the exhaust, exhaust manifold, carbs & intake manifold to remove the engine without pulling the hood. It's not that big of a deal to do. I would suggest duct taping up the edge of the opening around the engine compartment. This will prevent the engine from scratching up the paint when you are pulling the motor.

    Have fun!
