Dipstick Reading
Has anyone had any trouble getting an accurate measurement from the dipstick. . .
well I did today; after I changed the oil last week and went for a quick run I checked the level and it was right on the top bend, pulled about 1/4 quart out the other day and went back out today, well I couldnt get an accurate reading. . . b/c when I pull it out it smears oil and I cant see exactly where the mark is.
So if I was a the top bend, how much should I remove to get to the 1/2 mark?

To me it's a pain in the ass to get it a 1/4 from the bottom bend.

Mt oil is overfilled from the dealer it is about a quarter of an inch over the top bend....But I figure it will burn up after a couple days out....and I have no way of removing it sooo...it stays like it is...

It's not good to run the engine with the oil over filled, could cost the life of the engine.I might have a problem with the oil being way over filled by the dealer last time I had the rxp's serviced (lost in rpm's at top end).

best way IMO... ride the ski... get it hot, beat the crap out of it so the oil is piping hot. then pull up to shallow water or to a dock... turn the ski off and get off the ski and let it sit still in the water (obviously u need calm water sot eh ski doesn't bounce and rock around) .... let it sit there off just chillen for 30 seconds....
Pull the dipstick out, whipe it clean, put it back in, wait 3-5 seconds, then pull the dipstick out and IMMEDIATELY hole the stick horizontally level so the oil line doesn't move on you...
i've personally found this time and time again to be the most accurate way of getting a consistent reading.
TOTALLYBLOWN... and to anyone else... don't live my that logic. REMOVE the excess oil if it is overfilled!
