Clutch Losses
For those of you that have lost your clutch, how much longer or how long did it go until you lost it again, if you lost it more than once.

the first time I lost mine it had 18 hours on it. The second time I lost it 36 hours. Exactly 18 hours later. Kind of a strange coincidence.

My first one was at 45 hours the second time at 50 hours. I rebuild at the first sign of my boost dropping. My ski turns 8400 rpms.

my 05 RXT went 95 hours on the stock clutch (no i'm not a dead calm lake rider) ..... i ride exclusively in salt water on long island in the Ocean or in the great south bay (which is usually worse than the ocean) ....
my clutch never blew apart or caused me to lose power, BUT i did perform a slip test on it 2 weeks ago to find out that it failed the torque specs, so it is being rebuilt this weekend

How are you rebuilding it ?
Are you going with the ceramic or you using the metal washers.
I have 50hours and am a little worried about this season.
Think riding style has something to do with this ?
Constantly doing WOT then letting completly off and then WOT again.

Here's a few things I do that may or may not have protected my sc clutches.
1) I always warm up for at least 2 minutes of idling around when the engine is cold.
2) I always cool down and let the ski idle for a minute or two before shutting off the engine, especially after lots of WOT.
3) never, ever leave the throttle in when jumping or when the pump unhooks.

I lost mine first at 36hrs then at 58hrs. I ride in salt water and in the ocean. I did notice when taking chop, heavy chop that it comes unhooked like cavitation and it doesn't accelerate or punch up into the higher rpm ranges, maybe it was the clutch slipping. I don't baby it, I like to ride it hard and jump waves. It is a sweet machine but I am getting tired of having the clutch go out.
I got the 4stroke RXP stage 2 so I wouldn't have to wrench on it. Seems like I'm wrenching on it. I did a lot less wrenching on my GPR stage 2.Most of the time I would tune on my GPR not really wrench. The first time I lost my clutch I thought it was due to the stage 2 stuff putting more stress on it. I don't think the clutch will handle anymore the way I ride. This sucks.
