    pump tunnel question

    hi im looking at buying either 2008 a gp1300r or a fxho. My question is with the pump tunnel reinforcement, what do you need to remove to gain access to the pump tunnel does the motor have to be out? Does anyone have pics of the pump tunnel with everything put back together? thank you.

    Romove the stinger section of the pipe.Remove battery tray,water box,sound suppression/hoses.Here is a finished pic of the R&D pump tunnel reinforcment.When you get to that point of install,we will walk you through it.

    thanks guys. i really do want the gp1300r over the larger fxho and didnt want the weak pump tunnel to be a deterent. How difficult is it to remove the stinger section of the pipe and do i need to add additional parts like the upgraded pump shoes or does the 08 already come with those.sorry for the stupid questions,but thanks for the help

    There are no stupid questions. At some point, we all had to learn how to do this stuff. A new 08 GPR will come with the updated pump shoe brackets. With a little luck and some haet, you should be able to reuse them. The stinger section isn't hard at all to remove. Just take your time and famaliarize yourself with it and it will come off no problem. If you can't get a hold of an R&D reinforcement, Mr RX951 has some handy templates on here where you can make your own.

    My first time it took about 45 minutes. The only special tool needed was a 12" extension.
