1998 Sea-doo SPX Intake Grate
What are the thoughts on intake grates. I'm on a choppy lake will replacing my intake grate make my machine handle better/quicker hookups? Is it easy to replace and how, just four screws??

Yeah, if you are in choppy water, you may want a better intake grate. You stick in the water better by scooping more water into your intake. Yes it is only four bolts holding the intake grate on. There are two bolts in the bottom of the hull and two bolts into the ride plate/or shoe. It can be removed in about 30 seconds. Just get the right size socket, (10mm I think) and unscrew them. Bolt on the new grate and you are done.

I would also recomend using some good silicone sealant under the mounting pads to help hold it on and seal everything, Just let it setup for at least 24hrs.

An aftermarket grate for that model will be a nice improvement
