Omg - Minneapolis Bridge Collapse
Unreal: http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070802/...ridge_collapse
Hopefully the injuries are not too bad.
On another note, the Dept of Homeland Security already declared it not terror related....would they even admit to it if it was?..I doubt it.

I drove over the bridge not more than 20 min. before it colapsed!...counting my lucky stars!!! It's a main freeway bridge on 35W located in downtown Mpls...by the Metrodome. The bridge was currently under construction to fix the bridge deck and some other things...this was most definitely not a terroristic attack! It happened around 6:00pm just during the last part of rush hour...so there were a lot of cars still going over it at the time...going to be a number of deaths. I'm sure it will be on National news and all local news programs later tonight.

This has been on the news non-stop tonight here in Minneapolis. One news report indicated that a 2006 survey found "moderate" cracking in the support girders.
There was repair work going on at the time of the collapse, but only on the road/deck surface. Crazy stuff. There was a school bus load of kids on the section that dropped and, for the most part, they're all OK.
