Oil analysis is back. Not good
The results confirm what others and myself thought was a problem. To much fuel dilution in the oil. Only 8 hours on the oil and its at 7.5% fuel. I can't imagine how high it would be for someone who going by the recommended oil change intervals in the service manual of 50 hours. Any of you Kawasaki Techs out there get any TSB's on oil issues yet?

Once I passed 10 hours on the ski I am not having anymore "fuel in the oil". I changed the oil 3 times in the first 10 hours. I keep the oil level at the bottom end of the cold mark (engine level - not the ski or trailer level). If I ever smell oil on the Dispstick again I will change the oil, else I will change it every 10 hours from here on in . . .
It is definitely a strange aspect on the boat . . .

Dang. If people run them up to the 50 hours, Kawi is going to be having a lot of warranty issues later. Have you done a leakdown check on the cylinders? Just wondering if the rings are still not seated (I would not think so with those hours) or if the injectors are just putting a bunch of extra fuel in the cylinders.

I am going to leakdown it again this week to see whats changed. The main reason I checked it the first time is because I noticed a lot of fuel in the oil after the first few rides.Last edited by turbodave; 07-30-2007 at 07:10 PM.

I have been changing my oil every 10-15 hours because I think it is cheap compared to the gas I have to put in. I have not pulled out any more oil than I put in. The level appears to be constant but I do not have a lot of hours between changes.

The last time I changed the oil I had @ 30 hours on the oil, I did not detect a fuel smell at all.
Dave how did you break yours in?

back in the day.....
when my ski used to run, I could smell a little fuel in the oil. looked at it tonight and yup still has a little fuel smell. Hey, i may be way off, but could that be (in addition to emissions) a reason for the air suction valves?
