Can A Crappy Seal on Your Pump Shoe Scrub Speed?

Look at the way the black "right stuff" seal is placed between the pump shoe and hull

Looks like crappy job to me. They didn't bother to smooth out the schmootz when the pump shoe was snugged up next to the hull

    Can you lose performance here.

I would think that if they used a solvent and smooth the crap so that it was seemless, I would be better off...

I think when I put the new pump shoe on I'll do it to make me feel better. Thanks. Yellow
