Yet another GPS mount question
Guys;
I use the Garmin Rino 530 GPS/Radio/Altimiter/everything. It's a bit more sizeable than the regular GPS only devices, so I'm concerned that it will be too heavy to mount on my 250's cowling. I was thinking about this RAM mount for it (see below), but I think the radio will be kind of high. What do you think? If it's too big I'll get a smaller garmin unit, but I love the 530's ability to show the location of my buddies when we ride and the radio. I just wish it had VHF also..

consider Garmin Marine Mount
The Ram mount looks more substantial than the Garmin Marine
mount, but I think it will be too high if you mount on cowling
in position I did.
My mount flexes/shakes a little at speed. I think it may be a good
thing, kind of like a shock absorber. I connect the lanyard to a
ring fixed in a hole in the cowling I drilled under the cowling to prevent
it from sleeping with the fishes.

Our Mounting...
Here is how we mounted our Garmin 530 on both of our skis. We've had them mounted here for more than 5 months with no problems.

That's what I'm talking about! Did you just use the handlebar mount, or did you have to fabricate something? Thanks for your help.

Mount
I used the handle bar mount and cut out around the rubber cowl on the handle bar to make it a custom fit.

Check my set up.
I was so lazy during summer to take pics.
It's a Garmin 276c.
3.8TFT' display, 256colours, that is even visible under direct sunlight.
Loved it!Last edited by GODOSIDIS; 08-01-2008 at 07:51 AM. Reason: typ
