project HX with 4tec
so I am thinking of building either an or a X4 hull with a stock motor. Over the winter. I know that the hx hull is slower than an x4 with stock 4 stock motor. We at monster motorsports r on our 5th hx 800 converstion. I have looked at both hulls an it looks ok for both. Now the x4 hull has area for a bigger pump. But I'm lookin for the shortest driveshaft made for these motors. Please give your thoughts!

Holy crap, I've been preaching this for months! My last ski was an HX and my current ski is an RXP. The HX was loads of fun to play on, but didn't have enough power and the thing broke every time I rode it. The RXP isn't much fun to mess around on, but hauls ass and is very reliable. I've been saying that an HX with an RXP (or even the 155 hp version) would be the best of both worlds. Actually, my idea was to use a 2 cylinder 1000 cc version of the RXP engine, which would be smaller, lighter, and still make 140 hp. The stock HX is 85 hp, but mine was at 100 hp with the Factory pipe. 215 hp would be crazy on that little ski!

Race Tech might try 215 in an X4 hull this winter!

the hx hull will have trouble floatting the 4tec motor.. plus there NO-way you could put it in the front without nose diving...
I looked into the HX hull before i put my 4tec in my RXPL monster..
even on the xpl hull i had to put the motor in the middle to balance it. and those that have seen me at the bug the past two years could tell you how bad in still nose plows at idle speeds.. at thats in a bigger hull too.

not saying its impossible but you DEFINATLY need to put it in the middle or more to the back to keep from nose diving it.. and you will need to create bubbles to clear the motor..
Man ill telling you from experiance.. IT WILL NOSE DIVE at idle and up to about 30.. I mean completely PULL the nose underwater if your not carefull. My RXPL 1500sc I have to get off the back of the seat to idle around on mine and it still has water OVER the nose till about 25-30....

Dont waste your time and money, it wont be worth it. Put a 951 motor in an HX, then you will have some fun and you wont have to distort the whole ski to ge it in there

I think the 951 would be the way to go then.
