Riva Ride Plate. Pump Shoe Seal Kit Needed??
When the Riva Ride Plate comes, is the pump shoe seal kit needed or would it be fine without it? Thanks in advance.

The pump shoe seal kit isnt needed , the same thing can be accomplished by sealing the intake grate with silicone, and if your not cavitating, you wont have to seal it again

Wait a minute... doesn't the pump shoe seal kit goes "with" the intake grate... not the rideplate?

After Ultra250TN posted the pic of where to seal the grate, I pulled mine down, and sure enough the factory not only slopped silicone everywhere, they put it in areas that didn't even contact areas the grate is supposed to seal to. It certainly looked to me that if you seal it properly, it seals around where the stuffer kit sits anyway, it doesn't appear to fill any cavity that isn't sealed anyway after doing a proper silicone job. Basically those cavities are sealed off when properly siliconed, so what are you gaining?
I had cavitation, cleaned and resealed the grate and have none now, and thanks to Ultra 250TN, I saved $70 plus shipping, and regained my holeshot.
After you pull the grate down, you'll see why it makes no sense. I think you guys are getting results from the reseal job while installing the kit.
If you picture the grate sealed up after it's installed, you've accomplished nothing.
Just my .02 and my results afterwords
