Stripped carb nut
I was wondering if anyone had any advice to help me remove a stripped nut. On my sl750, there are 6 posts holding the carbs on. As you know they are in a very akward place under the carbs, you can only get a wrench on them. So anyway, the first one is stripped and I can't get it off. I tried getting on it with narrow vice grips but had no luck. Any advice??

I always used a wrench (box end) that I cut in half so that it'd fit between the carb and nut.
When I was whining that was still too hard Randy@Watcon told me he saw an interesting tool Baxter used to use, not only did he make one he had it overnighted to me while I was tuning at the lake.
It happens to work perfectly on the girdled head hardware on my cylinders as well.
It has a permanent place in my tool box!

yeah I would just take the manifold off, then it will be much easier to get at the stubborn nut.
Take the extra half hour to unbolt the manifold and it will be a lot easier on your soul than trying to get that nut off through brute force...
