Ski seems to be slipping????
This weekend it sounded like something went through the pump on my 96 Sl780. Now it will move while idling or just above idle but if you give it gas it just revs to full rpm almost like its slipping. I have checked the wear ring clearance(.012) pulled the pump and shaft, everything looks ok except for the bearing housing it has a broken "fin" inside. Is this my problem? Help please I wanna ride this week!! How do I check the coupling??

How about a photo of both end of the driveshaft?
Does the driveshaft have any play at the impeller or coupler?

ok
The splines on both ends of the shaft look good and arent worn. Inside of coupling has splines and is not rounded or worn out.

We need to find this one out. It happened to me last year and never found out what it was. I just replaced everything with performance parts and that solved my problem.
This is the same issue co tech had recently as well.

Your rubber PTO coupler might be slipping.

We just need to verify the drives shaft, impeller and coupler splines are in proper working order.
If the is no black soot floating around the area sucking air or any obstructions (tree limbs, anchors etc.) then we know it's not a cavitation problem.
So as beer suggested it would be a spun coupler. One of the reasons I like the old solid coupler better.
