What's the problem?
Tell me what you think the problem might be. Have a friend with a 2001 Virage carbureted engine. Driving across the lake and all of a sudden the engine stops/dies...no spark. The stator is fine...what's the problem? We know the answer now but was wondering what people think it might be.
Yes I realize there is very little information but that was done on purpose. We want to experiment to see what peoples initial gut instinct is to the problem with no inspection or info. Want to see if something gets continuously mentioned more than other ideas.
I'll state the cause in a few days once people have had a chance to answer...thanks!
Updated with answer:
Actually this happen to three different 2001 Virage watercraft all within a couple weeks. That's why we were wondering if there was something consistant that others may have know about. Anyway, here is what the problems were:
1. First boat - Primary Side of Coil went out...very rare I'm told.
2. Second boat - CDI got hot and exploded (maybe spike in system, still not sure)...again, very rare I'm told.
3. Third boat - Wire corroded on the starter soleniod connection.Last edited by 32DegH2O; 07-12-2007 at 11:00 AM.

Well, with no more info, I would guess the kill switch or lanyard switch. Maybe a LR 505?

Do you remember when those damn NGK electrodes would break and close the plug gap? You'd unscrew them to have a look and they'd slide back into place while inspecting.
