new to me sl780 issues
Just bought a mint looking 97 sl 780. started it for the 1st time today. the ski hasn't been used since the 05 season. was told it ran great when fogged for winter.
It starts easily but idles rough. the comp #s are... mag 115 center 120 pto 120. the head temps when on the hose at a little more than idle are mag 146 center 106 pto 96. the rpms i cant say what they are. the mfd works, but displays 0000 when running. the engine will die if i pull the center or mag plug wires, but remains almost the same when i pull the pto. it changes a little but not much. i do have spark on all, and all plugs are wet when i pull them. i dont have a book on the ski yet, but what should i start lookin at as the problems w/ running and the 0 rpms on the display?
Thank you for any help i may recieve.

How old is the gas? Try cleaning the carbs since it sat for that long, and replace fuel filters. Post #9 may help with the MFD issue. http://www.greenhulk.net/forums/showthread.php?t=15438

The fuel tank was empty and clean. The gas is fresh 91. I couldn't see the filters, but I'll start pulling things apart to clean the carbs and find the filters. Looking down into and through the carbs, they looked spotless. No residue of any kind.
I'll try the reset and re-cal of the mfd.
Thanks for the reply.

Visual appearance means nothing. The jets are so small on the inside a grain of sand or a little varnish could block the low speed jet. There is a filter on the inside of the carbs and prob a filter in line too.

Make sure the carbs are sync'ed all the way across. Meaning that useing a long strand of fine copper wire as a feeler gauge, and the carbs on the idle stop, (engine off) make sure that all carbs are open the exact same amount.
