750 Finally together
Hey all,
I finally got my 750 (ebay $200) back together and she fired right up. Very Surprised here. However, I am getting water coming out around 3 of the head bolts (on 2 heads) and between the head and jug on one of those as well.
Was I supposed to use sealant on the metal gasket???????
Also, She seemed to want to race when running. ( ithink this is a air leak somewhere, but dont know how or where to start looking.
Thanks

sea Welcome to the Hulk.
Check your heads and cylinders for flatness.
I like to use a little copper spray on the gaskets.

I used copper spray when I took my head off as well. As far as it racing when running, usually an air leak. My ski does the same thing and I cannot find the air leak. But it will not do it in the water, it will idle just fine. At least mine does.

Isn't that the deal? You set the idle to 3k out of water, and it runs at 1500 in the water? That's how my SL650/750 is.

Thanks guys,
That got it. fired right up. still seems to idle high.
Also, I cannot anything on the MFD. Is this triggered by water pressure or something. Seems to have a Vacuum line on it from the jet area.
Thanks
Sean

The fuse may be blown it is in the electrical box 1/4 amp fuse. the line is a water pressure line from the pump, it operates the speedo.

You should pressure test the crankcase to check for air leaks. The MFD most likely has the fuse blown like stated earlier. The hose that goes from the MFD goes to a speed sensor (white plastic fitting) that is under the driveshaft inside the hull. It sits right in front of the intake grate on the outside of the hull.

Runnaway RPM on a rebuild
ok here goes,
New Triple installed
New Fuel lines installed
Carbs Apart. Clean, reassembled look good
Copped seal on all gaskets (except reed cage, didnt want to foul them)
Battery charged
Fuse replaced in electrical box (it was bad)
Primed fuel lines
Fired right up
3100, 3200 3400 3800 4200 5100 kill
Noticed a fuel leak around 3 of my fuel lines on the carb rail
learn from me-- do not use plastic crimp rings on the fuel lines. I will replace all of these tomorrow with screw ring clamps.
Will the leaks on the fuel rail cause my runnaway????
Is there anyway to check for air leaks without pulling the engine?
All metal to metal joints are sealed with ATV gasket seal
only gaps "MIGHT" be the crank seals. but they are brand new.
Should they have been sealed with ATV seal as well???
Thanks
Sean
