Factory Yamaha race hull info
The highlighter ski that I am running is supposedly a factory Yamaha race hull. (NOT C.F.) I have been beating my head against a wall trying to find the 2-4 MPH that should be hiding in my ski. There have been 2 well respected tuners under my ski and can find nothing holding it back as far as plate, tabs, shoe, etc. I have been told that the mold was modified just a little bit to make the boat handle better that the production boats. Does anyone with any CC racing back ground know anything about this?

I assume you've already had the keel length checked against a stock boat?

One other thing that might be going on, is the pump relation to the hull plane.
Did the pump tunel get placed LOWER in the hull, even by the smallest amount?

Mark, now that the race hull modification has been brought to my attention I am going to be doing a lot of comparing to the new 06 ski that I have to see if I can find any differences. I just need ideas on where to look so thanks for bringing that up. I will look into that.

You will not find any differences in the race hulls and the production hulls because they came out of the same mold as the production skis and are made of the same material. The only difference is going to be the weight.

You might not find a difference FROM THE FACTORY... but after that, lots of folks did changes. Usually related to pump tunnel or other modification, such as "hull truing."
The arrogance of a racer and his mechanic should not be underestimated.

Maybe the rear of the hull has more of a hook than the stock hull.
YAMAPRO, If they are made from the same mold and material, where is the weight savings going to come from? Less glue in the seams?
