Pump Mods Double Bearing/Tripple Bearing
Ok, I see a lot of posts about modifying the pump with double and tripple bearings.
Who does what? and how much? and which is best for a ski with just a vortec SC impeller and Riva intake?
Does this mod get rid of the annoying 3500-4000 rpm vibration?
thanks
Steve

I just had my stock pump modified at Skat-Trak. They machined my pump and replaced the internals to accomodate a stronger shaft and tripple bearings. This is a huge improvement over the stock pump with a single bearing design. The newly modified pump now runs 2 ounces of synthetic gear oil vs. the grease Sea Doo puts in the stock pumps.
They also fitted my pump with a billet pump cone with integrated pipe plug to drain the oil.
The pipe plug size is 3/16 allen.
One of my favorite modifications is the machining of the venturi nozzle to accomodate different sized rings. I opted to go for the 80mm, 81mm, 82mm & 83mm rings although other sizes are available. The stock venturi exit diameter is 82mm. Having this modification will make dialing in your RPM’s extremely easy with smaller size rings dropping your RPM’s and larger sized rings bringing your RPM’s up. Rings are easily changed using a 3/32 allen wrench.
Prices for all the modifications are as followed:
Modify your pump to a tripple bearing design $378.12
(This includes a billet pump cone)
To add a stainless steel wear ring costs $243
(Skat can do this with either a solid piece of stainless, or stainless over delrin)
Skat can modify your stock venturi to accomodate different sized
nozzles. The cost for this is $225 and includes 3 different sized nozzles.
If you want Skat to supply the venturi nozzle add $101 to the cost.
Skat -Trak 4 blade props are priced at $275
10/21 pitch for the RXP
13/17 pitch for the RXT
They can also do custom pitch’s (call for info)

I never noticed any vibration either?
Steve, maybe once you get your pump modded this vibration will go way.
Impros does a double bearing mod, but i think they are shut down right now.
I highly recommend the tripple bearing mod that Skat does.

You mean you guys never noticed the drone/vibration if you try to cruise between 3500-4000 rpm? The ski is smooth to 3500 rpm then it changes in tone. Hulk, I know you don't feel it, you never go that slow!!

in the GTX SC, I only felt that at 3500 since I installed the PPG power pipe, ONLY bc of the sound decibels or waves @ that rpm...PR...

Steve,
Check and see if your impeller cone has moved.
I have heard of it creating a little vibration.
