this is no rumor, this is facts. Yamaha corrected the head cracking issue starting in 2021. This slide was provided to me at the 2021 Yamaha press intro event for the 2021 model year.

We shall see if this did take place and if their "market complains" reduce. Head cracking been around for 8-9 years and finally in 2021 Yamaha changes. Only took two years for the timing chain to be redesigned.

Apart from the docs Jerry showed and the "Larger Arrows" is there any other info we can use to verify?
For example, my 2021 GP was delivered to me in Nov of 2020. The Engine has a Mfg date of 2020 obviously. Mine is one of the units that came with the wrong Transom Plate. Other than that, I've always been concerned that my engine, because it was built in 2020, doesn't have the new head or the new clutch.
I want to try and not have to take anything apart just to verify, but I will if I there is no other way.

well i guess the changes were made with the Model year not the Engine build date. I do have an Model year 2021 FX SVHO and the Build year is 2020 i changed the clutch and it was the new Design so i guess i got the new Head also.

Well i just checkt the Parts Numbers at the Spare Parts site looks like according to my 2021 Modell i do have the old head but new clutch...

What month was your engine built in 2020? Where did you check the part #'s to verify?

    Thanks,

    what spare parts site?

anyway to check a serial number or stamo number on the head? No part numbers on it.

any spare parts site like riva etc, you see that there is the new clutch number for an 2021 Modell and i chnaged that clutch and saw this is the new one, with the head it shows the old Partnumer i guess my head is old as the Engine is Build 2020 i dont know which month now, very easy to understand

Its sill a bit confusing to be honest on the parts site.

Looking at my year 2021, it shows a different part# than the 2019/20 model years. Being that the engines are theoretically built roughly one year ahead of model release, my 2021 Ski has a 2020 engine, and a 2020 Ski has a 2019 engine, etc...
Then on the snapshot @greenhulk posted it has a note that seems to indicate targeted for 20 Models Engines. But, without taking the valve cover off and verifying with the arrows, I cant find another way to be 100% sure.

    My Engine Manufacture date:

On the clutch side of things, that is easier, because the parts site contains the actual engine #'s in the description:

    My Engine part #:
