just worried about the intake grate because everybody seems to have them breaking on them

R&D 1200 grate is the way to go for a reliable rec ski grate. The 800 grates are the ones known for breaking.

Is the 800 grate dangerous without modifying? Just purchased one at the end of season last year. I'll take mine off, if that is the case.

It can crack. Just pay attention to the 800 grate and you will be fine most likely.

Its actually more dangerous (with) modifying. As chrisrokc said, just take a look at it evey now and then. But dont worry about it like its going to happen. There are ALOT of 800 grates out there that has not had any problems so just be advised it "could" but dont dwell on it.
With my ski, I look everything over pretty good before I leave the house. If everything seems ok I dont give it another thought until next time.
You can get the 800 grate from carl at Island racing.Last edited by porksword; 06-26-2007 at 02:09 AM.
