My OEM cover actually came loose on the stern and started flapping like crazy. Lucky I was driving during the day and could see that there was a problem. I've never towed with it on since.

NO, covers are known to chafe the finish going down the highway.

I never use the OEM cover when driving locally to the lake. On long drives (interstate) I always use the OEM cover. Its never been a problem.

Couple days ago I saw someone towing couple skis with covers on going in the opposite direction on the highway. On one of the skis the rear of the cover popped off and was flying all over the place. Not only that cover is toast but the ski must have taken a beating.
