Agreed, hence "...Timing must be off or your compression is seriously Effed to do it with a starter turning it over.".

A different frame rate won't solve the problem, as it depends upon the frame rate and the RPM.

Have you removed the jet pump and inspected all the drive splines?

If the engine is running properly in water (responds to throttle squeeze and revs up) but there is no strong thrust (water jet) from the jet pump then something is broken/wrong/stripped in the jet pump or the driveline.

If you have not yet removed and fully inspected the driveline for problems, that is where you should be looking.

To verify proper rotation just simply remove cover off midshaft coupler and watch as you crank and run motor. In the thousands of posts I've read this would be the first to have that phenomenon.
Most likely your driveshaft splines are stripped and slipping. Somewhat common on the xlt vintage skis. Pull the driveshaft, I'd lay money that's where the issue is. The impeller will still rotate on the trailer w no load on it. Will likely have to replace both drive and midshaft as they both have splines that interlock, problem with one leads to likely prob w the other as a result of any play will beat both sides of that marriage.

    Hey hey! i'm here!
work start again, don't have a lot of time for jet.
Did a compression check - 91 psi on both cylinders. not grate but still good.
will try to take down jet pump and see it condition.

Did start engine yearsturday, just to check if it still starting. did start after 15 seconds.

Ok here is my Guess.. the driveshaft is broken behind the splines... Ask me how I know... so I have sheared the splines off the driveshaft and I have sheared 20mm shafts off just behind the splines... make sure you throttle back when you have the whole jet pump out of the water...
