Something Most People Will Never See From A JetSki

We recently returned from our annual trip to South Padre Island. While there my wife and I, plus another couple, took a little spin out in the Gulf of Mexico.

Here is a photo of our friends in front of SpaceX. We were probably 200 yards off the beach. I don't think they would let you out there during a launch...

The following day, we drove out on the beach there. They will actually allow you to drive right up next to the facility.

That's really cool, I'm surprised they let you get so close.

That would be cool! How close did you get to it?

The Starbase is right off a public road you can get extremely close. My kid works there.

Not as close as I wanted. There are "no boating" zones that are strictly enforced. Quite a few launches have been delayed due to boats being in the no boat areas.

That said, I researched the no boat zones, had my GPS mapped out and knew exactly where I was going and where I could not go.

Minutes in to the ride, a USCG boat with a big machine gun on the bow stopped me and said "this is as far as you're going". Even though I was not close to the no boating zone.

Bottom line: I got within about 4 miles of the launch pad:

That's awesome. Visiting that area and witnessing a launch is on my bucket list. I've been following the starship development for a while now.

    Sounds like a fun job!

Any idea when the next launch is scheduled for?
