Carbon Seal Part Revision July 26th 2020 - Pictures

I have had my carbon seal updated on my 2020 RXT to the new part number. Figured I would provide an informative post so other people have the information.

I am not entirely familiar with the version history of the carbon seal.

How far back in time does the ‘before’ version cover?

A friend was asking me about buying a 2008 Seadoo RXP. Would that era model have come with an even older carbon ring design?

Are all the older carbon ring using Seadoo models upgradable to the newest version of the carbon ring?

2018 ST3 Hulls it appears shared the part number until the change in July 2020. RXP had different part numbers from the RXT/GTX in 2018-2020. The new RXP also has a different part number from the RXT/GTX.

    So, whatever that means.

EDIT* I will get a list of part numbers later on

    Great info!

I don't see how it's better other than now you can't see how out of alignment things are. I guess it's nice it doesn't spit dust everywhere and what water does come through probably doesn't get slung around.

Yea because wouldn't that make the salt water ski more reliable with the salt water not being slung all over the motor. Or does it just get everywhere anyway?

If the alignment is perfect you just don't have those problems. If the alignment is off the salt water spitting on the charger and other hot painted parts destroys the paint. I've had it both ways over the many years of buying skis and riding in salt water. My 19 I aligned early on after I put in the Rhaas mounts and barely have any corrosion after 50 hrs and 2 years. All I do is rinse with water after I ride and store.

Did this on a 2019 Seadoo GTX 155. Have put about 10 hours on it since and it hasnt sunk yet. I did put the window at the top so i could check on it easier. Bit torn on the "upgrade". Bands in the bellows are nice, but the cover is a pro/con. Nice it keeps dust and spray down, but i kinda felt like those things were a warning sign and it was pretty easy to tell how much wear was happening.

I'm with Dino 100%. Looks to just hide the carbon splatter, possibly even past warranty on a lot of machines. BRP BS in my opinion! Coming from a BRP repeat customer by the way. RR.

Looks like 230BD and 230BC are different, and the piece between 230BB and 230BC? I think it is more than just a cover. Someone confirm or refute?

295501202 is the part i put in. I was very iffy about since it says its for an IDF model and obviously the 2019 didnt have that. But i did measure everything out(hat and ring) and they matched up with the standard ones. It didnt come with that mystery part you are talking about.
