    Svho engine failure

We dropped a valve from the flame arrestor pushing through the intake manifold. PLEASE get an intake manifold upgrade kit for your 2018+ SVHO engine to avoid this problem all together.

I did my cam timing on the bench with the motor out, and even being able to see the crank, it was difficult to get everything lined up properly.

I installed my stage 2 minus the retainers and running a 13/20. I got 85mph GPS. Very happy. GreenHulk jr, did you have to modify the intercooler bracket to make it fit? I had to drill mine out to push it toward the rear to make it work.

That should be under warranty! I Guess it would have taken a much longer wait for the repair.

    Great video! Thanks for sharing

Excellent results! We didn't have to drill our bracket out.

Very cheap and easy fix to replace a valve. It would have sat at a dealer for weeks before they even touched it. Plus, they would just put another intake manifold on it with the exact same issue. Until Yamaha puts a ridge around the entire seating surface for the ribbon, or at least a ridge on both sides, this will keep happening. I have a 2021 GP1800R SVHO and a 2021 FX Cruiser SVHO.
It sounds like I need to get rid of the ribbons and upgrade to the Riva intake kits.
Do the Riva intake kits satisfy the concerns with backfire flame arrestor? I read on another post "Riva filters are Coast Guard flame arrestor compliant.

My concern isn't so much Coast Guard compliance as I do not want a backfire to start a fire on my ski.

You have a massive flame arrestor called the intercooler. I think these rules are mostly legacy when carbs were still a thing.

    Good point ptscon.

Jerry, I went back and watched your video of installing the stage1+ kit.

Why didn't you remove the ribbon at that time?
I am considering the stage1+ kit for both of my skis. Where you concerned about the difficulty in removing the ribbon and getting everything to connect properly?
