    Engine plate scratched out

Long time reader, first time owner of a 09 GTX 255 iS. This machine was purchased from Copart (yeah, I know) as a flood loss. Turns out the resignator was melted at the intake neck and flooded the engine bay. Its missing a few parts including the gauge cluster so there is no knowing what the hours are unless I get the PCM read.

My question is about this engine plate that should have engine info on it, but instead has a star with the number 725 next to it. The engine is full of water and I'm working on flushing out most of it but trying to figure out how far I should go in rebuilding the engine. The valve terrain looks very clean for its age. I'm trying to figure out who rebuilt it and how reputable their rebuilds are. Any ideas?

    Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't even bother with trying to get the water out by flushing at this point. It's a complete tear down to see if there's any corrosion on internal components otherwise there's a good chance you'll have a rod coming through the block on your first ride.
