What would be the correct name for these ‘nuts’? Yamaha F2X-U517E-00-00

    Yamaha F2X-U517E-00-00
Found on 2015 through 2017 models (only?)
Used to hold _one_ of the 6mm x 1.0mm threaded bolts on each side trim panel.
Visible when you look up from the seat opening towards the side trim lower bolt area.

I have an alternate use for these plastic (nylon?) encapsulated nylock brass nuts.
I want to use them in a different project and would need more than a dozen.
Yamaha wants about $3 US each, which I suppose I could just pay.

I do not know what the proper name/word is, by which to search for them online.

If you happen to know what these are called or where to source them, let me know.

    Thanks.

They are prolly just glued in and can be punched out and then replaced by generic nylocks

What I am after is the nylon (looks like nylon to me) squared body molded thing, which has a normal nylock nut (brass in this case) pressed inside.

I have an application which is already molded to accept this shape of nut retainer thing, I just want to find a commercial/normal/online source for the molded things. Which is hard to do if I do not know what they might be called.

OK, reread the 1st post. You just want the insert. would guess it's prolly an oem molded part. If you are looking foe just a dozen of them, then find a buddy with a 3d printer, and pay him for a roll of nylon filament which he might not have. He will also need a solid model of the part, or he might be able to draw i himself.
Once all of thaat is done then he can print them out 12 at a time. You can send me the part, I do solidworks, and another guy that works here has more than 2 3d printers.

Oh fug, just took another closer look at the parts being measured. DUDE, can you show me the measurements in english??? Me no speaky metrico. LMAO

    Thanks for your offer.

For $3 apiece I can just pay Yamahas prices for these bits. Not worth scanning and creating a 3D file for the quantity I might use.

I have seen very similar nut retainers used elsewhere. I am half-hoping that there is a company that makes these in a range of sizes. If I can find such a company, then perhaps they can be purchased inexpensively.

You can handle metric. All modern watercraft are full of metric. Cars too.

These things I am looking for are less than an inch square. Millimeters is a useful method for measuring small stuff.

I grew up with an inch/foot/miles/ounces/gallons ‘measuring system’. We moved on to the much less bizarre metric system when I was already driving. Didn’t take long to get familiar with a much easier system of units. I can do fractional inches if I must.

Myanmar and Liberia still officially use the imperial system of units. And one other country, apparently.

If I don’t find a proper source for these (other than Yamaha), I might just take you up on your offer.

    Thanks
