the ribbon is a government mandated flame arrestor in the event of a engine back fire. keep in mind that your intercooler also acts as a flame arrestor.

so let’s be realistic. Ever hear your modern fuel injected engine backfire? I haven’t, and have never heard of it even happening. And if it did, do you honestly think the back fire flame would travel through the intercooler and into and out of the air intake? No way!!

    Regarding “voiding warranty”
They cannot “void” your entire skis warranty for doing a mod to your ski.

They can “deny coverage” on a failed item if the modification is proven to have caused the failure, but your entire skis warranty is not VOID!!

For example, let’s say you reflash your ecu with a performance tune. If your steering breaks, instrument cluster goes bad, a sensor goes bad, etc, then the reflash could not have caused one of those items to fail so they cannot deny coverage.

Now, if you have some sort of engine failure then they could absolutely deny coverage on the motor repair.

Point i’m trying to make, is your entire skis warranty is not VOID if you mod your ski. Research Magnusson Moss Warranty Act. It protects us consumers when modding our skis

Greg installed a Riva intake manifold upgrade and Riva power filter on a friends ski last night. This was a bone stock ski and the ribbon was dislodged and pushed through into the intake manifold with minimal pressure.

This is really disappointing! Ugh. I really didn’t want to have to do this…such a huge PIA. Not looking forward to it.

I feel ya, was trying to avoid this at all costs…..just being lazy. I would assume Yamaha will eventually get wind (they probably already know), and issue a recall?!? Wishful thinking….but It is Christmas…

Does this happen on the 2018 HO as well? I know it’s a different intake manifold. But it’s still plastic. So any idea if this has happened to those manifolds?

Thinking of deleting the ribbon on my 21 GP HO,anything concerning with doing that on the N/A engine?

Removed my intake manifold after reading this post and mine looks like the ones in the photos beginning to come dislodged. so thatll be added to the list of things im doing to mine this winter. My dad also has a 2019 GP SVHO and I do everything to his that I do mine other than some things Im sneaking on mine this winter lol. But I dont need 2 whole kits, just 1. Can I order just the sleeve for one of them? Both of ours are Stage 1+ at the moment.
