Just pulled the manifold and mine is secure, but if you press on the bottom it will move 1/2 inch in as the pictures above show. 2021 GP1800R SVHO with 50 hours. Still removing it as it seems unlikely that a back-fire would go through the intercooler, supercharger, and air box to ignite fresh air from the front air intake.

That’s one of the first mods when I receive a new ski. The ribbon hurts Performance when you do a long wot run

Jerry can we remove the ribbon without having the riva kit? I got a ride this weekend and won’t be able to get the riva delete kit in time

Not on the 2018+ skis. You need the kit. Go on your ride, I'm sure it will be fine.

you can drill in the ribbon and then you can take a saw and cut/break it out. you will need an Dremel to remove the Lips inside as well. After that you need to rinse the Manifold with Water and use compressed air to clean it.

I read that this ribbon is a USCG required flame arrestor.

Would removing this ribbon void my warranty?

Why did the Coast Guard require Yamaha to include the ribbon? "Flame arrestor?"
Assuming I remove the ribbon, Is there a risk of a flame propagating through the intake system and igniting a fire? ... Or is it just emissions mitigation to satisfy EPA requirements?
