In theory isn't the fuel mixture pretty well dispersed, compressed, "homogenized" in the cylinder by the time the plug fires?

Now in the MSX 140 head design it may make more sense than in other engines. The plug comes into the head at a fairly severe angle, I guess the electrode could "shadow" the spark front to some significant extent.

Thinking about it some more -- wouldn't you want the open portion of the electrode to face the combustion chamber rather than the injector? Just askin' ?

Spark plug torque spec is 18ft lbs. 30 seems pretty high...

Hey savageman69... in your pics above, it looks like you are boating in mud. What the heck is that all about? Is that lake/river always that brown?
Its a river after large rain fall...but it normally is a brown anyways

i was digging back threw lots of threads and seen someone with the same issue a skipping at WOT....ended up being an injector, im hazarding to guess its the mag injector as it still weeps a bit...and the plug is black. Going to attempt to clean it...soak it and what not see what it does

For what its worth, Evinrude explicitly called for plug indexing on the FICHT engines. I do not doubt the personal experience of my esteemed colleague K447 however

Here is a cool video, those injectors can really get rockin'

What exactly did they want in terms of ground electrode orientation vs. the Ficht injector’s fuel plume vector?

Evinrude Ficht would have been outboard engines, which may have completely different cylinder scavenging (and swirl) effects inside the cylinder.

My guess is that there may well be a (small range of) spark plug index orientation that interferes/worsens the Ficht combustion (for polaris Ficht, anyways) but that most of the time the random angle the plug electrode seats itself at is ‘good enough’ and the engine runs just fine.
