    End of the season blues

I'll be pulling the MSX 140 out Saturday. It ran flawlessly all summer. Sad day.

I actually got a couple extra weekends in this summer, the water was warm and the weather unseasonably hot the last two weeks. But now the water temperature is approaching 60F and that's about my cut-off. In my yoot I could tolerate the colder water but no more.... well I probably still could, just don't want to.

Both lifts, the dock, and the pontoon will all come out. Kinda like shutting down the cabin, except we've made it our year round home now so it's bittersweet. I get to see the lake year round but I don't get to play in it.

Now I gotta find that fogging oil and Stabil....

I am probably going out on the last ride on the Pro today or tomorrow before I put it away for the season. Water is getting too cold for it, it's probably mid to lower 60s in the middle of the lake and in the shallow water it's more like upper 50s.

I'll make it out on the SuperJet until late October, I'm more worried about cold seize and damaging a ski than I am the cold water affecting me. I think the Pro is most sensitive to cold, them my 750 sxi with wiseco, then my SJ with cast pro-x. It's time to start thinking about snowboarding/snowmobiling, and the weather forecast this winter is looking like it's going to be cold and snowy.

It is liquid water, so we can ride

One really nice aspect about off-season and shoulder season riding is how few other boats and watercraft are around. *
If the winds are light it can be some of the best riding of the year.

A few months from now the water will have stiffened enough that we can walk on the water.

    * Riding off-season and especially on cold water it is important to not only dress for the water conditions (in case you should fall in).

One must also be prepared for self-rescue. Carry gear to solve problems, everything from hose clamps to tow ropes, flashlight and a tool kit.
