    GP800R Dropped Power Valve

Just picked up a GP800R that dropped a power valve. What is the best source for a piston, cylinder, power valve, and head? I will be installing some wave eaters while I am working on the ski. Any other easy modifications to do while its apart?

I would find some OEM parts. If they are still available.
2 strokes are not nearly as expensive to repair as 4 strokes.

SBT.COM is a place for engine rebuilding.
    Exchange/sell/rebuild.
Not recommended by some people on this forum.

SBT does not have the best reputation. You can pick up a WSM piston and send your jug out to Millenium to have it re-chromed, then buy a new PV. I'm sure somebody on here has parts collecting dust for a 800.

I wouldn’t use SBT parts in my lawnmower. How bad is everything? I dropped a power valve in my 1200 and everything was fine.

When were the updated lever links introduced? This ski is a 2005 so unless the motor was replaced with something older, shouldnt it already have the new style?

I don't think Yamaha ever introduced an updated lever link - just aftermarket. The aftermarket lever link is not notched out where the pin sticks out on the end of the PV, it's enclosed and keeps the pin in place. Check yours and see... Also check and see how exactly it failed. Whether that be at the pin or at the point where you secure it to the cylinder.
