Crank snout thread size on SL900

Does anyone know the thread size and pitch for the crank snout on the 900/1050 engines? I need to chase the threads on the snout. 9/16-18 seems to be very close, but I don't have metric taps/dies that are that large or an M14 bolt so I can investigate if they're more accurate, especially with the odd angle I have looking in from the fuel tank area. Hardware stores in my area are useless for metric hardware. Thanks guys.

    You have the flywheel nut?

Take the nut to a machine shop, they should be able to confirm the thread size and pitch, and whether it is metric or inch standard.

The nut is marred a little on the first few threads as well.... Guess there was a little damage from the seized oil pump that I didn't notice at the time. I ordered a new one. If no one happens to know before it arrives this weekend I'll take it over to the hardware store and use the sizing gauges. The main reason that I was asking is that I was hoping to order a chasing die and have it get here at the same time.

Well, I do not have a red engine Polaris flywheel nut at hand to measure.

Perhaps someone reading this thread will.

Always appreciate the help. I'll get it figured out one way or another. Maybe someone here does know. I'm continually amazed by the knowledge that appears on this forum.

Since it’s not cool to leave threads unresolved, the answer is M14x1.25 for anyone who might need this info in the future.
