    2001 Kawasaki Ultra 130 DI Oil Issue

    I'm having an issue with oil flooding the cylinders on my 2001 Kawasaki Ultra 130 DI. I was originally going to use an oil block off kit and premix the gas but I noticed one of the oil lines go into the crank case. Can an oil block off still be done? Would it work if I plugged the three oil lines to the carburetors and kept the one going to the crank case instead, or is there a different solution? Any advice helps. Thanks!

    NO! That is a fuel injected engine, the fuel is injected into the cylinders (except for the one hose going to the crankcase. If you look at the intake manifold, you'll see oil lines going there. These provide oil to the crank bearings, as well as the cylinders. I believe that the discharge nozzles have pop-off valves in them to prevent oil from seeping into the crankcase during storage, but it's been years since I worked on one.

    I tried to remove the nozzles for use in another project, but couldn't get the out without damage. I think heating will help. Yamaha uses inline pop-off valves that you could use.

    This is the answer. I have put the Yamaha inline check valves on a couple different Kawis because of this exact issue.
