    2019 2020 2021 models - are there issues?

I have ordered a 2022 for my first real ski. I've opted to get the 4 year extended warranty because I can't wrench (I can, but ski's are too claustrophobic for my liking). For these last few years, are there any "major" problems that people are encountering? Or should I expect the first 5 years and 200 hours to be painless? Yammy is reliable, I know this, just wondering about the recent model years, specifically the non Supercharged models (FX).

Yamaha has been changing the dash on recent model years and we have seen some owners reporting problems with the 2019+ era FX touch screens.

The new-for-2022 FX screens are different, so no owner reports yet.

Audio systems, some owners reported that their dealer did not connect the audio system power wires to the battery. Worked fine after the owner hooked it up.

Overall the non-supercharged Yamaha 1.8 liter engine is well regarded and generally trouble free.

Are the FX audio systems, because they're integrated more now, installed by the factory, or are the local dealers still doing this? For some reason if they're dealer installed, I picture a 19 year old holding a wire stripper in his hand trying to figure out the difference between the red and black wires. It also appears the 2019 seats are the same as the 2022, so I am getting the non-cruiser model, but getting a 2019 cruiser rear seat (unless they sell the 2022 at the same price). This way because I'm tall I will have the flatter seat, but my passenger can still have peace of mind of not falling off (at least not as often).

Factory or dealer installed audio, the machines are shipped without a battery installed.

Nobody is stripping wires at the dealer. Wires would be factory terminated and color coded, ready for battery connection during PDI.

I do not know whether the 2022 models with audio would have the audio power feed integrated into the main electrical system or have a separate battery post wire connections as the previous audio equipped models.

If you keep the plugs and oil changed that machine should be super reliable. Nothing major.

    Are you riding freshwater?

All freshwater, unless I get a bug up my ass and decide it's worth taking it for a 22 hour drive, which it very well may be

Oh it’s worth it. Believe me. I’ve done it a few times.

Do the proper break in. I actually wrote it on a piece of tape and put it on the glove box for the first launch. This way it’s right in front of you, no reason to deviate. Then after 10 hrs, do the first oil change.
The break in oil has its purpose, to seat the rings and collect contaminates. The shit comes out black as hell and looks like water. Follow this and you’ll have a bulletproof motor for years.
