    Seadoo GTI Rusty IBR module

    Hi guys,
I have already replaced twice the IBR module on my 2011 Seadoo GTI for same reasons.
I always have a little bit of water in the bottom of the hull, and the module rusts over time due to splashing water.
I ride most of the time in salt water.
Do you have the same problem ? How did you deal with it? I'm starting to get tired of disassembling, sanding and repainting this part.
The motor protection is in steel, the 2nd generation module is completely in plastic. Is there a way to fit a IBR module gen2 on my ski?
Thanks a lot for your feedback

Perhaps after the next cleaning and repainting you could apply an anti-corrosion coating.

I have used CRC Marine Heavy Duty Corrosion Inhibitor spray product * prior to operating in salt water. It is much thicker and stays on the metal surfaces, where it slowly dries to a yellow tint.

I would suggest applying it to every surface of the iBR motor assembly. Let it cure for a day, then apply another coat.

Is salt water also getting inside the iBR motor and mechanism?

CRC Marine Heavy Duty Corrosion Inhibitor spray is different from the widely used CRC 6-56.
CRC 6-56 is a thinner product.

BRP may sell a similar product but I have not used it.

Thank you very much for your reply. I had a quick look to this product and will try what you recommend.

I have not checked inside IBR motor if any water got into it.

The last solution I had considered was to clean the metal body and then apply a thick layer of silicone / polyurethane sealant

I put 350 salt hours on a 2011 GTI and now have 200 on my 2012 GTI. Never had an iBR issue.

I rinse the entire engine bay and sometimes will let the bilge fill with about 6" of water just to test the bilge pump.

After everything has dried, I spray everything with either Lanox or Fluid Film.

I also use Fluid Film for some things. Good protection but it stays goopy forever. Very messy if you have to handle the thing after it has been coated with Fluid Film.

The CRC Marine Heavy Duty Corrosion product goes on thickly and then slowly dries to become only slightly tacky when touched.

Thank you guys. I have repainted my iBR motor assembly this weekend, and checked no water inside. I will try to order CRC Marine Heavy Duty Corrosion Inhibitor spray product but it is not easy to find / import in Europe
