    Noob question(s)...

As in my login name, I have a pair of 2016 VX Cruisers. One of them has a slight misfire, runs ok, but has a miss. Neither one has more than 50 hours on them, but I'm guessing either a spark plug change or coil issue. I do NOT have anything to run diagnostics on them. I'm a little confused - I see several diagnostic readers that say they work with Yamaha diagnostic software... is this software really free? I see links to download the software but is it really free, and all I need is a reader to connect with my sleds?
Sorry to be such a noob, but I like to do my own work. But free software?
    Thanks!

Have you changed to a fresh set of genuine spark plugs, as a diagnostic first step?

No sir, but since riding them this weekend I have a new set for both on their way as I type. This simply brought up the issue of being able to correctly diagnose what these computerized 'runners might be telling me.

Wow, no answers. Either I'm asking something very obvious or missing something, LOL.

What changed when the new spark plugs were installed?

They are both running great after I replaced the spark plugs (one was fine, but changed them on both). So, that issue appears to be resolved, but i still would like to know what i would need to diagnose them myself. Is that not what Yamaha "allows" or is this something they reserve for a shop visit?

I use the CANDooPro diagnostic system. There is a hardware adapter box and cables to connect to the ECU.

Depending on the model and year the Yamaha ECU connector is different, so make sure you buy the correct cable.

The CANDooPro hardware interface box is universal and works with Yamaha, Seadoo and others.

The CANDooPro software is ‘no charge’ but requires an active subscription, paid annually. Not expensive for a home user, and the Yamaha subscription allows you to service as many different ECU serial numbers as you wish.
By contrast, the CANDooPro annual subscription for Seadoo is per ECU serial number.

You can find CANDooPro pricing in the GH online store.
