On my 13 FX-HO, Jim's cut plate & Leo's pump wedge were worth approx. 1 mph. Had my stock impeller re-pitched to get to 7750-7800 rpm. Would run 64 all day.

Thanks. I already have a Dean's cut plate. Besides that and a different filter I hit 61 earlier this summer but that was about it. It was hitting about 7600 rpm give or take. I'm about 250lbs so probably not helping any. How's the ride with the wedge? Can you tell the difference?

No difference from the wedge, but the cut plate definitely.

I got about 1mph but a more locked in ride with the plate.....but if the pump wedge doesn't really get anything then I don't think I'll mess with going to the effort to mess with it.

    1. Does an intake grate help the FX HO?
Absolutely! It improves handling, and hookup in rough water
    2. Will the intake grate lower the top speed? I've read conflicting things on this....
It does not decrease the top speed on this hull and it allows you to run faster in rough water
    3. Which grate is best? I know there are several options.
This riva grate is best https://www.4-tecperformance.com/ind...oducts_id=2495
along with the pump seal kit https://www.4-tecperformance.com/ind...oducts_id=2496
    4. Would the pump wedge help on this? I'm assuming the install on this is pretty straight forward.
Yes, it's good for about 1 mph https://www.4-tecperformance.com/ind...oducts_id=5250
    5. How much would the pump wedge change the ride on this model?
It gets the bow of the ski up and makes the ski handle like it's lighter. It also helps reduce the wet ride that hull is known for.

So you recommend doing both of these (wedge and intake grate/pump seal)? If you just did 1 of these what would you do?

I think the nozzle is most efficient at Neutral because the nozzle is inline with the pump. The trim bends the water coming out of the nozzle so it's not as efficient. With the wedge you are actually changing the angle of the pump.
