    2002 ultra 150 3500 rpm

I have a ultra 150 that will only run up to 3500 rpm. No lights come on the gauge. I disconnected the heat sensor and the over heat light comes on and it only runs to 3500 rpm. I put a used cdi in it and it does the same thing. I've pulled one spark plug wire off at a time and that did change the rpms. I can't understand what I'm missing to make it run this way. Also it only does this in the water. And the compression is all good across all 3 cylinders

It seem more like it hit a wall at 3500 rpm. I hit it with starting fluid while it was running at wot and it stumbled and still wouldn't go over 3500

They were new plugs. I'm picking up another fresh set of plugs today and try and figure something out on it.

It takes a while for new plugs to turn brown. That's why I asked how long you've been running them.

Also check the hose from the expansion chamber to the muffler for a hold. Exhaust leaking into the hull will do that too.
Also, ride it for 2 minutes and then check the temp of each cylinder, if one is colder than the others that's where to focus your efforts

Update I took the cdi box out of ski that having the problem and put it in a ski that is running correctly and it ran fine. I even shot it with starting fluid while it was running at 3500 rpm and the engine bogged down. So I'm pretty positive it's ele. My question is could the stator be my problem?
