Salt-Water Pool [Chlorine Generation]
Hey guys, just thought I'd share what my wife got me for father's day.
We are converting our pool from the typical chlorine tablet style [chlorinator] set up to the the newest salt water chlorine generation style unit. Pretty cool.....it uses salt to convert the [NACL] and splits the molecules to separate the chlorine molecule from the salt compound.
It will save money in the long term. shock & tabs espacially...
This unit can super chlorinate after heavy use as long as the salt ppm is within 2700-3400 ppm.
Basically uses the same salt as a water softner....
My best friend has had it in his pool for a year now. I was skeptical, so I waited 1 year to see how his chemical usage has been and how his unit works. Well, he siad it was the best thing he done for it.
I installed the box today. Tomorrow, I will do a little PVC work and install the unit (easy). I'm doing the work all myself.....lemme tell ya, PIECE OF CAKE !
My pool currently stays crystal clear, but with the price of Chlorine Tabs and granular Shock is high ! Thsi unti willpay for itself pretty quick
So for any of you guys thinking of building a pool or currently own a pool, I would recommend this. !

Make sure to keep that turbo cell clean and replace it before the warranty is up (check your warranty as they try to screw you after 2 years).
They die quicker than you think.
We used to service that stuff but after 6 months we gave up. (Gave up on most pool stuff other than Aqualink and heat pumps)
There was no sense having customers pi$$ed off at us for someone else's junk.
Not to say that it's all bad, keep an eye on it and you should be OK.

P.S. Invest in a salt analyzer. Every time it rains or you refill your pool you are adding fresh water that may throw your salt levels way off.

I have been thinking of converting mine. How much did you get your unit for and what is the model number?

Its the Aqua-Rite XL. Here is the seller my wife bought it from on ebay. http://stores.ebay.com/A1-POOL-AND-SPA-SUPPLY
Here are all the ones he has for sale that I have
http://stores.ebay.com/A1-POOL-AND-S...QQftidZ2QQtZkm
They are all over ebay. I even read up on alot of the pool forums to see which one is popular and which ones work the best. this one is the same model the local pool supplies use and recommend.
$ 600.00. the pool supply wanted 899.99 for the same model.
Thsi is very easy to install guys...really. Just connect the control box to the load side of the filter pump timer. they even give you the conduit in the box ! then a little PVc work and its a done deal. Just make sure your using [Sch# 40] pipe and not sanitary PVC. Because it is under pressure.
Give me a holla if you need help. It even has a chart to determine how much salt to begin with to establich the level. It was right on the money. I am sitting at 3200 ppm of salt accoding to the display.
This unit is good for pools up to 40,000 gallons. My pool is only 10,500.
The water feels great ! soft/silky.
