“Today’s watercraft are just too big,” one commenter wrote. “They’re not fun anymore. You can’t whip ’em around like you used to.” Boy, have we got news for you. The Rec-Lite segment of runabouts have been one of the best additions to the marketplace in nearly a decade, and Yamaha’s EX Series has provided a new entry-point for enthusiasts looking to get into PWC without breaking the budget. Yet, of these smaller entries few have truly embodied the spirit of what many deem as watercraft’s “heydays.”

Itís an EXR with foot wedges and wide bars and is being referenced as a modern Blaster which is a true lean over Sport boat (like HX, Hurricane).

Must have taken all of 10 mins to come up with this in the design
meeting to try and combat sales losses to Sparks.

They should have brought out a modern genuine Sport boat, they have the perfect motor and drivetrain, just need a new hull.

Oh yeah, I hear ya. Yes, it's a redressed EXR for sure. Personally, I loooved the EXR and am sad to see it go.

A "true" 'Blaster (if it's correct to say "true") would've been a 1-seater based on the SuperJet hull and TR-1 powertrain, but I really don't think Yamaha's lawyers would've let that happen. (Too much of a liability?)
