How long can you run without the red rectifier wire - 1997 Seadoo GTX

The rectifier on my seadoo just went bad or has been for a while since it bogs down while trying to accelerate off start and the battery reads 12.5v at 3000k RPM. Took the red wire off and it runs much better.
My question is how long can I run/does it do any damage to run without the red wire for a prolonged period of time? I understand the battery will not charge so I will bring a portable battery charger if need be.

    Thank you.

    welcome aboard GH!

<wagging finger> You should replace the regualtor

running the battery down constantly is going to damage it, and maybe the ignition box too.

and batteries are from cheap these days. The 97 GTX ignition box is crazy expensive too.

you can find cheapo-o aftermarket regulators on ebay

Hope you are a good swimmer. The one thing about jet skis,,,, you need to be 100000% sure that when you hit the start button, it will fire up and get you back to shore.

About an hour of ride time on a fully charged AGM battery

Depends how many times you start and stop but I would get two or three tanks of gas out of a 96xp before the starter became sluggish. I wouldn't recommend it but I was young and didn't have money for a new stator as it was three times what I was earning a week then, ran like that half the summer.
