Yamaha EX - TR-1 Oil Warning Alarm

Hello. Iíve checked oil levels. Iím spot on there. Engine will run fine at idle and low throttle. But whenever I try and put some throttle to it I get a warning light and alarm. And oil pressure light flashes. Any thoughts? Been going through manual. Was going to check the oil pump. Anything else to look at.

    Engine running hours?

How long since last oil change?

    OEM oil filter installed?

Just completed a oil change. Oil and filter. Bothe OEM. I did have an oil over fill. But got that figured out and have correct level now. Maybe ran 15 minutes on a hose in this condition. Fouled the plugs. But changed those. Motor has been flashed. The Riva module. New machine to me. But motor came from a reputable source. Motor is in a mini jet boat. But still a TR1. 49 hours on the motor

Has this engine ever run properly for you?

It has not. That said I’ve run it less than 1 hour. Mainly at idle just checking it out. Today was first day I tried to ramp it up.

Do you have the ability to connect an oil pressure gauge and check the actual oil pressure?

Could the wiring be causing false signals? Loose connector, damaged wire somewhere? Have you inspected the oil sensor connector?

I’d love to add an external pressure gauge. Searching the forums here to try and figure out a method

Looking into the pressure gauge. But just can’t get past when this happens. It’s when i punch to get on step. The pressure should be increasing ? Not decreasing. I have the level sensor on motor. The steering sensor is connected but loose. Maybe that needs to be hard mounted? Just going over everything. And scratching my head

Try doing some testing in-water on the trailer. Is the problem caused by increasing engine RPM or the hull acceleration causing the oil to slosh away from the oil pump pick-up?

Chose a launch ramp that is steep, if you can.

Hull strapped down tightly to trailer at rear and front.
Back down the ramp until the jet pump inlet is fully submerged.

Start engine, let it warm up while you monitor. Does the warning trigger just from the hull being at an angle? Then slowing increase throttle and see what RPM the oil warning occurs at.

Ö motor came from a reputable source.

Motor is in a mini jet boat
What angle is the engine mounted in the hull?
