2005 STX-12F Coupling Removal or Rebuild?

I have to replace the output cover on my 2005 STX-12F because one of the hose nipples broke off and it is plugged up tight. Working on trying to get the coupling off and I just can't stop the crankshaft from spinning. I even bought the Kawasaki tool to hold it from the other end and it just keeps bending.

Thoughts or ideas. I would rather not take the whole crankshaft out but not completely opposed to the idea.

    Thanks everyone!!

If you are replacing that cover, plan on replacing the gasket, seal, and stator bearing. Then use some heat on the coupler, they commonly gall on the snout.

The other thing to try is to use an impact gun and the socket adapter on the end.

Well I made this tool and put my impact on it and after just a little bit the coupling came off. You can see that there has been no cooling system maintenance done on this ski at all.

When you reinstall, use anti seize on the threads.

Plan on replacing the bearing in the stator housing.

The ski really should have had the inlet/outlet on the bottom of the cover when it was designed imo

    Sean,
You really think I should replace that bearing? Are you thinking it got over-heated and can have damage? Or are you thinking because of how far into it I am easier to do now versus have a problem in the future? Looking at the service manual they have a bearing puller and stuff. Seems like a pain. I do have a 20 ton press which should get it out of the generator cover. You know you line everything up nice and it pushes right out and then the new one slides right back in. Thoughts?

Not necessarily that it is ruined or damaged but just that they do go bad when they get corroded and since you have it out now, it is easier than having to pull all that bs off again later.

As for R&R, I think I used a BFH to remove and then pressed the replacement back in.
