    Thanks guys, when I have finished installing the second battery I will put them back, but they may be a little shorter. It suddenly clicked why they would help, and it is simply because there are no “seals” around them, like the two great big holes in the fore and aft of the engine compartment. As Steve pointed out, those two holes have “seals” around them to at least limit the in-flow of water. Regarding the steering column.......that’s another discussion I guess, because I can’t see how that would be sealable. I have two styrofoam pieces in the bottom of my hull.
