787 oil bypass question

Got a new to me, low hour 1997 GTX.

I built a 951 last year that I converted to premix, however this is my first go around with a 787.

the picture attached has a hose that goes to the roadside rotary valve fitting, but has a check valve and a nipple for hose on top of the tank....but no hose on it. Otherwise as far as I can tell the rest of the injection system is intact.

ive read here as well as other links that I can fill these two hoses with oil and connect them together and be done with it?

planning to disconnect and cap the pump discharge lines going to the intake manifold behind the carb.

To go premix you'll need to remove the oil injection pump and its adaptor shaft and install a block off plate. And block off the intake fitting as you mentioned. The fitting in the photo is a vent. I'm not sure why you would want to disconnect the RV cavity hoses from the tank unless you have an issue with the oil tank. But yes, you can loop the two RV cavity hoses together and fill them with oil and eliminate the oil tank all together.

And.......since it's new to you, do yourself a favor. Pull off the intake grate and ride plate, then just grab the plastic pump shoe and pull down on it. Betting it comes right out. Clean and reseal. This is a common issue on those and the source of cavitation grief for anybody that doesn't know better.
