1994 Seadoo XP vts diagnostics
VTS on my recently purchased 1994 Seadoo XP does not work. Looks like the motor is in good condition, it has no visible rust and plastic on the top is nice and clean. However there is no response to the VTS button on the handlebar.
I wonder, what should be the logical diagnostics steps for this issue.
Thank you.

There is a fuse in the e-box for the trim. You can also pop open the cover, unhook the motor, and power the motor directly to 12v. Reverse polarity and the motor spins the other direction.....it's a power window motor.

Typical problem with the VTS is the reed switches fail inside the unit, cannot be repaired normally. You will need new VTS if this is the problem. Make sure you check the rubber boot on the VTS extension rod by pump. They normally crack/split and let water inside in the VTS causing failure.
