Nanoxcel wear 2018 GP1800

Hi all,
after a long history of Sea doo's and Kawasaki's I purchased my first Yamaha, 2018, GP1800, 140 hours. After getting it home I notices some wear on the hull just forward of the intake. I wouldn't think much of it until I read all the discussions on the nano hulls. I attached a photo, it's roughly 6 inches long. No deep scratches, looks like the previous owner may have made a habit of beaching it on the sand.
Should I be concerned?

I would look into coating that with something. I have some wear on the keel of mine but it’s not as bad as that. I have been looking at some of the airboat coatings

Looks like it just needs to be repaired.

Does not look like there is enough material removed to compromise the structural integrity, but you do not want to leave it untreated.

The nano material is kind of soft and not very dense. If you ever drill it you will see what I mean compared to the SMC of the older hulls. A hole saw cuts through it like butter.

Reality-check - keep in-mind these are not the old "fiberglass-boat days" ... as the risk of water wicking into and destroying the composite laminate is not applicable with nano SMC or even regular SMC.

Given that this appears to be a paint rub (and primer), it is simply cosmetic at most. FWIW, and many long know this already, Yamaha's are just painted bottoms, it's typically an "above the waterline paint" - think single-stage automotive paint. The paint/primer is a hecavalot softer than the SMC. Granted, to some folks, this would be a real eye-sore ... and an equal number simply don't care - each his own. All I'm saying is that this really is not as bad as it looks, and as long as the nano isn't worn-down too thin (no more beaching it) or cracked ... you've got no real basis of concern on your investment. Heck, there are even those that have shaved that area intentionally (for speed gains) and report no issues - although that's an extreme rare example.

Sounds like (as the new proud owner) you are not the beaching type ... so you could just as easy hit it when some rattle can paint from time to time.

So if I understand correclty there is no structural risk to leave the glass fibers exposed to water? They wont blister or delaminate. If that the case I wouldn't touch it....
